Could a magical trip to Dubai be just what the doctor ordered to bring romance back for Jake Gyllenhaal and Taylor Swift?

If you believe US media reports, the couple have parted company and the short-lived relationship is over.

But the UK press claim to know something we don't, reporting the Brokeback Mountain star, 30, plans to splash out on a £50,000 (Dh285,393) Valentine's Day luxury getaway to the Atlantis resort in Dubai with country star Swift, 21.

A source told the UK's Mirror: "Jake has gone all out, booking them a romantic trip to swim with the dolphins at Dolphin Bay, and a slap-up candle-lit supper at Nobu.

"He's also booked the most lavish digs with views across the resort, their own butler and a lift that opens right into their suite."

According to Us Weekly magazine in the US, however, seems to have finished as quickly as it started.

"Jake reached out to her and started all of this, but now he's not acting as interested," a source told the magazine.

"He said he wasn't feeling it any more and was uncomfortable with all the attention they got.'

"He also said he could feel the age difference. Taylor is really upset. We told her not to move so fast with this, but she didn't listen."

The couple were last seen together in public on December 9, spending the day out and about in Los Angeles shopping for groceries and eating out.

Maybe a romantic (read expensive) getaway is just what they need to keep the split rumours at (Dolphin) bay?
